A Maple Ridge Christmas light display set to music is going viral on YouTube.
Snowmen, Christmas trees and Christmas light bulbs, in the front yard of the house, along with snowflakes and icicles on the face of the house, dance to an array of Christmas music including the Christmas Vacation theme song and a live version of Little Drummer Boy by pop duo for King and Country.
Alan Ford and his wife Eileen have been adding to the displays each year.
There are now 15,000 LED lights flashing rhythmically to the cheerful musical selections.
Passersby can listen to the show via a small speaker, or, if they’re in their car, can tune in to 106.7 on the FM dial, and pump up the volume.

“It’s kind of fun to see people out there dancing,” Ford said. “They got the cars tuned in, and having a good time.”
This year, there are 12 different songs set to lights, and the family opted to make them all upbeat.
“We just wanted to make it a little more festive for everyone after a difficult year,” Ford said.
To create one of the top displays in the city takes a lot of patience and effort.
“We work on it all year bit-by-bit,” Ford said. “We’ve got to build the props - as none of this stuff is available in stores - and then you add the lights, match everything to computer, and sit down and program the digital version.
“It’s bit of a process, but it’s fun.”
Growing up in Maple Ridge, Ford said he was always inspired but a house on Carshill Street.
“They had an old light show about 50 years ago,” he said. “It was really cool, and I guess that always stuck with me.”
Once he and Eileen had children, the couple began working their way towards the current fantastic display.
“I promised our kids when they were young that eventually we’d be a Griswold house,” he said, referencing the Chevy Chase holiday class film.
As of Friday afternoon the video on YouTube had been viewed 509 times since it was first uploaded on Dec. 11.
The house is located at 11290 236 St. in Maple Ridge.
