The ACT Presents season is coming to a close with one of the most sought-after ensembles the world over.
After taking the top spot at the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition, Viano Quartet, made up of Canadians violinist Lucy Wang and cellist Tate Zawadiuk, and Americans violist Aiden Kane and violinist Hao Zhou, have been in high demand, garnering major praise from the Boston Globe and performing internationally.
The group is currently in residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York City until 2027.
Formed in 2015, the foursome have won top prizes at many major competitions and performed at venues like Wigmore Hall in the United Kingdom, Konzerthaus Berlin in Germany, and Segerstrom Center for the Arts in the United States, and in front of audiences in New York, Paris, Vancouver, Beijing, Toronto, Lucerne, Los Angeles, amongst others.
They have also collaborated with GRAMMY Award winning pianist Emanuel Ax, concert violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley, and 11-time GRAMMY Award nominee, pianist and composer Marc-Andre Hamelin.

Viano Quartet will be performing: Introduccion del Angel by Astor Piazzolla; String Quartet in D Major, Op. 64/5 “The Lark” by Franz Joseph Haydn; and String Quartet No. 1 “From My Life” by Bedrich Smetana.
They will also be playing an energetic new piece by Canadian composer Kevin Lau, the youngest person to be appointed Affiliate Composer of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, in 2012, called Train to Improbable Places.

The concert will be the final installment of the Sunday Chamber Music Series for this season and will be taking place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, at the Mainstage Theater at the ACT Arts Centre, 11944 Haney Place.
