Maple Ridge Ramblers girls win regional championship

Numerous MRSS wrestlers qualify for the provincial tournament

The Maple Ridge Secondary Ramblers wrestlers won the Fraser North Championships with the highest team total points, the highest girls team total, and the third best boys team.

The regional championships were held at Pinetree Secondary in Coquitlam recently, with more than 300 wrestlers competing for medals, and to qualify for their spot in the upcoming provincial championships.

Maple Ridge finished with four gold, eight silver, four bronze, two fourth place finishes and a fifth place finish.

In first place were Colby Van’t Hullenaar, Asthon Senko, Tatyana Lagrange, and Tyson Deane-Freeman.

In second were Landon Paterson, Lily Labelle, Mikayla Pratt, Zahara Adomi, Agnia Krakovska, Callum Ross, Linden Sinow, and Jackson Van’t Hullenaar.

Third place went to Sophia Stark, Eva Fuller, Sheridan Sinow, and Travis Schultz. Fourth were Bella Berner and Avery Sparrow, and fifth place went to Jackson McKay.

All of these wrestlers who placed punched their ticket into the provincial tournament on Feb. 23 and 24 at the PNE Forum in Vancouver.

Maple Ridge secondary is trying to win a record fifth straight provincial title for girls wrestling, and will also contend for a medal in the combined boys and girls team scoring.
