The provincial government is looking to help make Pitt Meadows and other B.C. communities safer by handing out $3 million from the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund.
Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows MLA Lisa Beare explained that this funding, which has $30,000 going to the City of Pitt Meadows, will go a long way in strengthening the local emergency response and recovery efforts.
“This funding will make sure that emergency response can be even stronger by giving a boost to the Pitt Meadows Emergency Operations Centre (EOC),” said Beare.
“People in Pitt Meadows want to feel secure, following a series of climate change-related events across the Fraser Valley.”

The money from the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund will help the Pitt Meadows EOC and the 77 other community projects across B.C. to further training as well as purchasing and installing equipment and supplies.
Previously, the Pitt Meadows EOC has received several other rounds of funding from the province, including a $25,000 investment for new equipment in 2021 and again in 2022.
The recently completed EOC in Pitt Meadows, which is housed inside of the new Pitt Meadows Fire Hall at 19240 122A Ave., will be revealed to the public for the first time at the upcoming open house event on June 3 from 1 to 4 p.m.
