The Ridge Meadows Recycling Society is giving people a chance to see the behind-the-scenes of the recycling depot and learn what goes into the recycling process.

The popular summer depot tours program is coming back for yet another year, with the recycling society already having to add two additional tour dates due to the high demand.

Arun Ghag, special event assistant at the Ridge Meadows Recycling Society, explained that these free tours are a fun and engaging way for families to learn from environmental educator Dan Mikolay about the journey that their recycling takes and how to best recycle.

“These tours help empower people to know they’re doing the right thing when recycling,” said Ghag. “By getting a behind-the-scenes look, people can see how the depot runs, know what goes where, and understand the positive impact recycling has.”

Five of the six dates have already completely sold out, with only a few spots remaining on the tour on Sunday, July 2, at 3 p.m.

In order to participate, everyone must wear closed-toed shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
