Ridge Meadows minor lacrosse teams medal in tourney

Burrards teams take numerous medals from Wingrove Tournament in Coquitlam

Ridge Meadows Burrards teams brought home numerous medals from the Wingrove tournament in Coquitlam over the weekend.

The event is a prestigious A1 tournament that has been running for almost 40 years, and in addition to B.C. teams, draws clubs from Alberta and the US.

The tournament featured 28 teams competing in boys U13, U15 and U17 divisions, and girls U15 and U17 divisions.

Burrards won gold in four of the five divisions:

The U13 team beat Coquitlam 9-4 in the championship.

The U15 team won the final by a convincing score of 10-2 over Saanich.

The U15 girls beat Coquitlam 7-3 in their championship game.

The U17 girls beat Langley in the final game.

The U17 boys team won the bronze medal game over Saanich.

Some of the top NLL stars in today’s game have played in the Wingrove, including NLL MVP and Top Goalie Christian DelBianco, Team Canada and Toronto Rock Challen Rogers, Team Canada and San Diego Seal Wes Berg and others.

In addition, the U11 A1 team took gold at the John Witt Memorial Bellie Bowl Tournament, hosted by the New Westminster Salmonbellies Minor Lacrosse Association.
